Blanche & Lucy and the family take a day of driving through beauty

Today Blanch and Lucy and little Luey decided to take a drive to visit the area red rocks. So we went through the Grand Staircase-Escalente, Kodachrome Basin and Red Canyon.... a great day of on the road viewing of wonderful vistas.

This visitors center looked like one of the many homestead sights we saw along the way... right down to the great fencing..... the start of drive to Grand Staircase-Escalente

Next we went to Kodachrome Basin Sate Park, and Red Canyon.

This is one of the smaller spires - they were best viewed from hiking into them but it was too hot to bring the dogs on a hike so we were very satisfied to view them from the road.

More views from Kodachrome Basin.

We all piled into Co & Flo's RV to drive through Kodachrome Basin. It was a hot day (about 80 degrees) so we couldn't bring the girls hiking which limited us to the amount of spires we could view from the road.

The spires at Kodachrome Basin ranged in height from 6 feet to 100 feet. They were beautiful but most of the formations could only be viewed by hiking in... so we only saw a few since we were driving through this park.

This is a little homestead we saw on the ride in Kodachrome Basin.

Even the weeds looked beautiful in Kodachrome Basin.

We visited Red Canyon which was a tenth of the size of Bryce, but instead of viewing this canyon from above like Bryce we viewed Red Canyon from the base as we were able to drive through the area and pull over to walk the paths to see the formations.

We were seeing these beautiful formations from the base of this canyon. The sides of the canyon looked wonderful from our vantage point.

We hiked around Red Canyon with the girls and enjoyed the beautiful views.

More scenes from Red Canyon

The views of Red Canyon are similar to Bryce with the beautiful Spires.
