Blanche & Lucy visit Duncan, Nanaimo and say goodbye to Vancouver

Blanche, Lucy & Luey visited the little town of Duncan to see all the beautiful Totem Poles there.
This sign described the symbols on the Totems and what they meant. Take a look at the following wonderful Totems we saw.

You can see that these Totems were not small - that's Co in front of this one.

This was one of my favorites - looks like it's sending us a kiss.
Then we took this Ferry to the Island of Nanaimo - off the coast of Vancouver Island

This is a view of Nanaimo from the Ferry on our way to the Dingy Dock for Lunch.
This is a shot of the little Dingy Dock Restaurant a floating restaurant off the coast of Nanaimo where we had a great lunch with our friends Kim and Dorian.
This is a photo of the Spirit Totem Pole one that was carried from the east of Canada to the west and carved by many people along the way, including our friends Kay and Pat.  And then installed here in Vancouver Island in a ceremony by the First Nations.

This is where the Totem is installed - at an Ice Rink (with the largest Hockey Stick anywhere) and Aqua Sports center.

Here we are all in front of the fireplace at our friend Kaye's home.  We spent 3 wonderful days visiting with Pat and Kaye on Vancouver Island.
We were sad to say goodbye to Vancouver Island.

While on the Ferry leaving Mill Bay on Vancouver Island, the local police notified us that they were doing a Terrorist Practice Run on our ferry.

Take a look at these photos - we watched while they followed, came alongside, and boarded the ferry to deal with the 'pirates, or terrorists'....

It was a interesting training to watch - here they are coming along side the ferry.

They climb aboard the Ferry while both their boat and our ferry was speeding along.
Here the officer has brought his gun up and is shooting at the 'terrorists' (only pretended).

And finally Blanche & Lucy say goodbye to Vancouver Island and the wonderful time they had there.
