Blanche & Lucy go to Victoria on Vancouver Island

Blanche & Lucy took the Ferry from Port Angeles  to Vancouver Island.
The view from the deck of the ferry as we leave Port Angeles.

Lucy & Blanche sat quietly while they rode the ferry across to Vancouver Island.
We saw this big tanker along our route to Vancouver.

The air was cool and it was a bit windy - but the sun made it a great ride.

As we approached Victoria on the ferry we saw a great welcome sign- "Victoria Welcomes You"

Our first stop was a visit with our friend Joey and her family.

We spent a little time visiting with Reda - Joey and the pups before we went sightseeing in Victoria.
The Float Homes were a great find here in Victoria....
The Float Homes were adorable - each had it's own character.

Many of the Float Homes looked exactly like regular 'land' homes except on the water.

This one was my favorite - with it's copper roof and lovely design.

Our friend Joey made us a great picnic lunch.

We enjoyed the delicious lunch by the Victoria waterfront harbor.

While having lunch we enjoyed the view - a breakwall walkway that had been painted by area artists.

And we enjoyed the waterfowl playing in the harbor.

After lunch we found the Tallest Totem Pole on our drive here in Victoria - 127'7"

This 127ft 7inch Totem Pole was spectacular.

Cheryl & I can hardly see the end / top of the totem

Close-ups of different sections of the totem.

We visited the beautiful Empress Hotel on the waterfront in Victoria.

We couldn't do the "High Tea" at the Empress this time - but that didn't stop Cheryl in taking a 'sip'.

The tea room is ready for "High Tea"

This beautiful foliage sculpture was part of the Empress Hotel gardens.

This is Victoria's Parliament building - seen from the waterfront downtown.

This is a view of the Empress Hotel from the water - a stately sight.

We loved the little water taxis bringing people from port to port on the waterfront.

This statue of a soldier coming home to his little girl and dog was a beautiful part of the waterfront that was dedicated with plaques and sculptures to soldiers from every war since WWI.
Victoria's China Town was a great place to walk around and poke into lots of little shops.
At every Alley between some stores we would see this sign - it represents an Alley full of more shops to discover.
We walked down this alleyway off the main sidewalk to find the shop that  this little red sign said - "The High End Dog" and lots more little shops in this 'Dragon Alley'.

A Little Cocker was guarding the doorway to The High End Dog pet store that we went into to get Blanche and Lucy some snacks.

We went down to the Waterfront of Victoria Harbor to watch the Dragon Boat Festival.
Every year this Festival has boats loaded with Breast Cancer Survivors who race in celebration of their fight.  Supporters and family gathered to watch and celebrate the race together.... it was quite inspirational.

One of the Dragon Boat Festival Attendees.

Everyone that was in the boats rowing were Breast Cancer Survivors - They train every week during the year for this race - from 15yr to 95yr.

This is another team of Survivors.

A singer on the dock sang "You are my Hero/The Wind Beneath my Wings" as all the Breast Cancer Survivors waved pink carnations.

Everyone threw their pink Carnations in the water at the end of the ceremony - not a dry eye anywhere after this...
